Manchester City Aims to Sign Alexis Sanchez for £40 Million
Arsenal’s forward, Alexis Sanchez, is switching teams by the end of the summer. However, it seems that Sanchez is desperate to make a move during the January transfer window.
It’s a well-known fact that Alexis is having problems with his current squad. First, Arsenal failed to renew his contract, making Alexis a free agent after this season ends. Furthermore, rumours have surfaced up that Sanchez’s relationship with some of his teammates is not so lovely.
But recently, there has been talk about Sanchez joining the current Premier League leaders Manchester City. Some reports suggest that the deal is almost done and that Manchester City is ready to offer £40 million for Alexis.
This could be beneficial for both sides because free agency doesn’t suit anyone. Arsenal is risking losing Sanchez for nothing. On the other hand, if Alexis doesn’t manage to sign a new contract by the end of this winter, he is exposing himself to many risks.
As former Arsenal player, Matthew Upson, said on Sky Sports News: “For me, it’s always a risk when you run your contract down. You’ve got the risk of injury, loss of form, so many different things could happen and sometimes a contract offer, even this late in the day, can sway a player to think ‘yeah I know, I’m actually happy here, and it is the right thing for me to do moving forward’.”
However, nobody has officially confirmed this deal, so don’t take these rumours to heart. After all, Manchester City is already a favourite on some of the best betting apps to win the Premier League. So, it doesn’t make much sense to change the winning formula mid-season. Then again, Sanchez has previously worked with City’s boss Pep Guardiola. So, maybe they are looking to work together once again.
