Manchester’s New Forward Alexis Sanchez Scores his First Goal
Three games in and Manchester United’s new forward Alexis Sanchez scores his first goal for the club against Huddersfield Town.
Manchester was a clear betting apps’ favourite in this match, as Huddersfield is struggling to stay in the Premier League. So, it was surprising that this game wasn’t more exciting.
After a relatively dull first half, Manchester United picked up the pace and took the lead in the 55-minute mark. 13 minutes later, Huddersfield’s defender Michael Hefele tackled Alexis, which got him a penalty kick. Even though the 29-year-old Chilean didn’t score from the spot-kick, he was able to take the ball and put it in the net after a rebound.
After the game, Sanchez received praise for his performance from both the fans and Manchester’s head coach Jose Mourinho. Additionally, fans voted him the Man of the Match.
Remembering the Munich air disaster
Next Tuesday marks the 60th anniversary of the Munich air disaster where 23 people died, eight of which were Manchester United players and three were club officials. The disaster happened when the Manchester squad was returning from a European Cup game against Red Star Belgrade.
Before the game kicked off, both teams and supporters commemorated the 60th anniversary of Munich air disaster with a minute of silence. Furthermore, players of both sides wore black armbands and people at the stadium received a commemorative pin and book.
Manchester’s next match is against the 16th place Newcastle on Sunday, February 11th
