The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has signed Billy Stanlake, a 6 foot 8 inches Australian fast bowler. The Aussie giant will play at least 12 games for the Yorkshire during the 2021 T20 Blast.

Billy was one of the key players in Australia’s game against New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman T20 tri-series finals. Australia was a winning favourite on the betting apps, which turned out to be the right prediction.

Even though he is only 23 years old, Billy is an incredibly talented cricket player. In a relatively short time, he managed to become a full international T20 cricketer.

Martyn Moxon, director of cricket at Yorkshire, had this to say, “We’re delighted to have Billy on board. He’s someone I noticed when I went out to see Jason Gillespie in the Big Bash. He’s a tall, fast bowler with pace and is a wicket-taking option for us. Obviously, since then, he has progressed to being a full international T20 cricketer, so we’re really excited about him joining up with us.”

Additionally, Billy is ecstatic about this move. He said, “It’ll be a great experience and hopefully an exciting few weeks. It’s a huge club with great history and tradition, and I’ve only heard positive things from the guys who have been there in the past.”

The T20 Blast kicks off on Tuesday, July 5th. Yorkshire Vikings will first face Durham Jets at Emerald Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. After Jets, they have 11 more games to secure their spot in the quarter-finals, which starts on August 23rd.
